About
I’m a documentary filmmaker and journalist.
I cut my professional teeth in the early days of the world’s first 24-hour news network, CNN. In the trenches at CNN, I met lifelong friends and colleagues who exemplified the value of hard work and integrity. Together, we won National Emmy’s for our live coverage of the Oklahoma City and Olympic Park Bombings.
I have been so fortunate to direct documentaries for television and theatrical release including Heist: Who Stole the American Dream?, The Long Shadow, Is Your Story Making You Sick?, Final Fight: When the Trauma of War Comes Home and Coronado: The New Evidence, among others.
Heist was a New York Times Critic’s Pick and I was honored to accept the Women’s International Film and Television Jury Award on behalf of the Heist team. The Long Shadow premiered in theaters across the US in 2018 and continues to air on PBS as does Is Your Story Making You Sick?.
Coronado: The New Evidence will premiere in the Fall of 2023 at film festivals around the world. The world broadcast premiere will be on Australia’s SBS in December of 2023.
Final Fight: When the Trauma of War Comes Home premiered in September of 2023 at the Soho International Film Festival where I accepted the New York Women in Film and Television Award for Excellence in Documentary Directing for Final Fight.
The Long Shadow inspired my Ted talk, Behind The Long Shadow.
I also love making films that benefit my local community, particularly stories about First Americans. My short film, Ours Is The Land, tells the story of Arizona’s Tohono O’odham Nation’s fight to prevent a huge open-pit copper mine from desecrating their ancestral lands in southern Arizona. I also directed There’s No O'odham Word for Wall which chronicles the O’odham’s opposition to a fortified international border wall.
We are currently in Development on Land Back (working title) about the disproportionate impact of climate change on First American tribes historically displaced by the The Indian Removal Act that was signed into law by President Andrew Jackson on May 28, 1830.
I spend as much time as I can with my partner Cathy, my dog Chica, my cat HRH Sarah and my beloved horses Melodee and Siri. I am a proud member of the Producers Guild of America.
